Motor City Makeover 2026 was a success!

In May, the Beautification Team made great progress in getting the UDCA planter box
and flower beds cleaned up and ready for growth, beauty and habitat and food for
pollinators and birds!

UDCA participated in Detroit’s Motor City Makeover on May 2, led by Danielle Bluford,
co-chair of the Beautification Committee. Our focus was the UDCA planter box at Curtis
and Livernois, and getting the area tidied up.


Professional Masons Angelo and Octavio rebuilt the planter box that had been
damaged over time by two vehicle collisions. They got all of the bricks secured, and
Veronica Dostal added the final piece of custom-cut masonry. Stop by and check it out!
Plans for the summer include adding native plant identification tags and a sign on the
box, thanking the volunteers who maintain it. If you are interested in helping the
