Detroit Alerts 365 sends Detroit-specific emergency notifications through the CodeRED emergency notification system—a system used by emergency services teams and municipalities nationwide. This free system enables you to choose how you would like to receive alerts–via telephone, text message, and/or email.
Detroit Animal Care and Control
The City of Detroit’s Municipal Animal Shelter. If you need to report lost or stray animals, please call (313) 224-6356. Residents can also visit the shelter 7 days per week to meet adoptable animals.

Property Taxes
The University District is a Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ) offering a Homestead Abatement (NEZ-H) to qualified homeowners. If approved, the NEZ-H reduces both the City of Detroit and Wayne County Operating Millage by 50%, typically resulting in a 15-20% savings for most homeowners.

Serve Detroit is a Mayor’s Office Initiative that connects capable volunteers with opportunities to engage in the community. It includes resources like a Tool Library, and assistance with Snow Removal for residents in need.
