UDCA Board Elections Open for 2027–2029
The University District Community Association is now accepting applications from residents who are interested in serving on the UDCA Board of Directors for the 2027–2029 term. Five seats are open this year, and the election is a competitive process open to all eligible paid members of the Association.
What Does the Board Do?
The UDCA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization governed entirely by volunteers. The Board of Directors is made up of 15 members, each serving a three-year term. Board members carry out the core work of keeping the University District a thriving, well-represented neighborhood. That work includes:
- Maintaining and supporting neighborhood integrity
- Promoting active partnership and membership
- Coordinating cultural and family events
- Maintaining and enforcing zoning ordinances and equitable tax assessments
- Promoting and monitoring public improvements
- Facilitating regular communications among members
- Representing the District on property tax, levy, and property issues
- Representing the District in legislative matters with City and State agencies
Who Can Run?
To be eligible, a candidate must be a current paid member of the UDCA at the time of running and must maintain that paid membership throughout the entire three-year term.
What to Expect as a Board Member
Board members commit approximately five hours per month to neighborhood service. Responsibilities include:
- Attending a monthly Board meeting
- Attending the semi-annual General Membership meetings
- Voting on issues that come before the Board
- Attending UDCA-sponsored social functions
- Serving on at least one committee and reporting on committee activities
- Representing the Board to the broader community
- Submitting articles to the UDCA newsletter (encouraged)
