The University District is a Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ) offering a Homestead Abatement (NEZ-H) to qualified homeowners. If approved, the NEZ-H reduces both the City of Detroit and the Wayne County Operating Millage by 50 percent. This typically results in a 15 to 20 percent savings for most homeowners on the parcel associated with the home. The November 20th meeting was intended to help homeowners better understand what the NEZ-H program is, ask questions, and learn about resources available to assist in the application process.
